Laminitis Prone?? during a lockdown ...
Prevention is far better than cure. Although it feels cruel to limit grass, you're actually being kind!!
If your horse / pony is laminitis prone and you're not able to tend to him/her as much at this time, then please keep them off the grass as much as possible. With this horrible condition it feels like you need 'to be cruel to be kind'.
Why? This time of year is ideal growing conditions (18c - 21c), long daylight hours and moisture in the ground.
The GRASS will grow RAPIDLY!!!
Tell tale signs include a raised digital pulse, hot feet, uncomfortable walking and in serious cases leaning backwards when standing still. If you see any of these symptoms then you've allowed too much grass and it can then be very uncomfortable.
We can create a bespoke formula for those that are prone to this condition that cleanses and encourages normal circulation. We can also add ingredients that help to promote comfort and mobility as required.
Prevention is FAR BETTER than cure.
