Here is India's story in a nutshell: I bought her 9 years ago as a ten year old from North Wales Police when they closed their mounted unit. She had been there for three years since coming over from Ireland. Before this she had been tried as a show jumper and bred a foal. When she first came to me she was very anxious, claustrophobic and frankly quite scary to ride as her flight mode and panic setting were constantly set on 'high' This made for hair raising hacks and very scary attempts at travelling and competing. Over time we have gained her trust and she has relaxed a lot but her default setting when worried is still 'panic-run'. This constant anxiety has made competing very frustrating. She loves to fly XC but SJ and dressage have been so tense that clear rounds have been few and far between and tension in the dressage is always an issue.

This season we decided to try a Hack-Up bespoke calming formula. We have also introduced Liquid 'Caalm' on competition days. Whilst I can't claim a miracle with the dressage scores (I feel I have to take some responsibility for that!) I have found her much softer to ride at a competition and show jumping has actually become a pleasure as she is so much easier to ride! I am just so happy that this lovely 19 year old mare with such a strange life history finally seems able to go out and ENJOY competitions! Now to work on that stressage.....!! Jane York
