Lakota Happy and Chilled
With the help of Hack Up Liquid Calm he could cope
When I bought Lakota, as the advert rightly said I knew he was a 'project' but as I have always worked with and had my own horses in need of time and patience I knew I was buying him before I even visited him to be honest. Living as a wild stallion on the Moors for the first 4 years of his life had taught Lakota independence and wild living very swell. Sadly he came straight from the moors into the hands of a not so great dealer. His sever fear of humans we believe was established here. He came to the wonderful lady I bought him from. Petrified With a long rope permanently attached to him his fear of humans was the most extreme I had ever witnessed.
So I did what every mad woman would do. Bough him and turned him away. Hmmm my many years of experience and teaching clearly hadn't taught me well enough to advise myself. Of course Lakota felt free again. A field of grass, a companion and space to run away every time I came to see my beautiful new pony. So getting close to him just wasn't happening. I'd spend hours meditating and he'd come and relax with me. But touch him, nope that will was a distant dream. After copious conversations with the vet about how I'd ever catch this terrified and still very wild pony was decided to dart him but this posed many risks. I decided that wasn't going to happen. This is when I discovered Hack Up.
As someone who is passionate about health and wellness I needed a product as close to natural as possible. We built a round pen and over the next few weeks I'd coax him in with a feed with the then called Step Free calmer in. What an absolute Godsend. This enabled me to introduce some horsemanship training without turning into a shaking mess. My partner under huge pressure as the only way to catch him without using a dart was to lasso him(luckily he has those skills). Once Lakota was caught he was just chilled. With the help of Hack Up's fab calmer he could just cope. He had a little more in another small feed and then led calmly across the field straight up the ramp. Everyone was amazed. It's taken along while, But any time we have to deal with tricky new situations I use Hack Ups Instant Liquid Calm until Lakota has learned whatever it is we are introducing won't harm him. We have received our new bottle along with a very cute show size bottle ready for our trip to a clinic in Norfolk in June.
Thank you Alex and the team, you are always friendly and helpful which makes supporting your business all the more pleasurable. A very happy and chilled Kelly Snow and Lakota
