Magnesium is often used to help calm animals that owners suggest are stressed. It can also help to promote normal muscle function.

Magnesium oxide is an inorganic compound that occurs in nature as the mineral periclase. It can be found in nature as a solid or  as a powder. Based on records it was discovered by Sir Humphrey Davy in 1808 in England. It can be found in Brazil, Canada, China, Greece, Australia and the US. 

Magnesium oxide plays a number of important roles in your horses body and often the diet of many horses is low in magnesium due to grazing land being grazed by horses for many years. Levels in different areas vary so it is recommended to have soil tested to check the level of magnesium. So supplementation is vital to ensure the good health of most horses. Magnesium Oxide is often used for horses that need help calming and helps to promote normal muscles function. 

Almost 60% of your horses magnesium is in its skeleton, while another 30% is found in the muscle. The other 10% is found in various places including the blood and the liver.
